Business Continuity Plan
Our Firm is a federally registered investment adviser. Neither our Firm nor it's investment adviser representatives perform any type of clearing function for itself or others. Furthermore, we are not a custodian of customer funds or securities. The Firm provides investment portfolio advice and supervisory services to it's clients. All transactions are sent to our clearing firms, which executes our orders, allocates them, clears and settles them. Our clearing firms also maintain our customers' accounts, can grant customers access to them, and delivers funds and securities. Our Firm services only retail customers. Our Business Continuity Plan anticipates two kinds of Significant Business Disruptions, internal and external. Internal Significant Business Disruptions affect only our Firm's ability to communicate and do business, such as a fire in our building. External Significant Business Disruptions prevent the operation of the securities markets or a number of firms, such as a terrorist attack, a city flood, or a wide-scale, regional disruption. Our response to an external Significant Business Disruption relies more heavily on other organizations and systems, especially on the capabilities of our clearing firms.
Our Firm's policy is to respond to a Significant Business Disruption by safeguarding employees' lives and firm property, making a financial and operational assessment, quickly recovering and resuming operations, protecting all of the firm's books and records, and allowing our customers to transact business. In the event that we determine we are unable to continue our business, we will assure customers prompt access to their funds and securities to the best of our abilities.
In the event of a Significant Business Disruption, our Firm will immediately identify what means will permit us to communicate with our customers, employees, critical business constituents, critical banks, critical counter-parties, and regulators. Although the effects of a Significant Business Disruption will determine the means of alternative communication, the communications options our Firm will employ will include our Web site, telephone voice mail, e-mail, etc.
Clients not able to contact the Firm during a Significant Business Disruption should:
- Contact the custodian directly. Clients should refer to their account statements to identify the correct custodian.
- Refer to the Firm's website for further instructions.
